Walls or terraces? That is the question.

Hi all,

In case you thought life was all fun and games here on Naxos I just wanted to give you a quick update on my research progress. This last week I’ve been out and about driving around the island in search of potential field sites for one of my experiments. I’m scoping out lots and lots of rock walls and happily finding tons of lizards. It’s looking like terraces are actually playing a huge role in some of these areas with lizard densities just as high as the rock walls I’d originally intended to study. I’ll be looking at both in parallel this summer and am starting to think more carefully about an experiment centered around terraces built to support olive groves. The rest of the week will be more surveys but here’s a quick couple of pictures to let you know what I’ve been looking for.
